WORKLINK PRODUCT DESIGN

PRODUCT DESIGNER FOR DEVICE AGNOSTIC MOBILE AUGMENTED REALITY APP

While at ScopeAR, I worked closely with the 10+ person mobile dev team to completely overhaul their Worklink app in order to combine two previously separate products: RemoteAR and WorkLink. I've highlighted some of the core user flows from the combined augmented reality app experience: all shipped to Android, iOS, and Windows as well AR wearables including Realware
and Hololens.

BACKGROUND

Before my hire, a contract designer created new designs to guide a “reskinning” of the Worklink app. While these designs set a useful new aesthetic, the holistic UX and new combined app experience was not thoroughly considered and in some cases key functionality was missed entirely. This required me to redesign much of the functionality as well as introduce new features to support a full-featured combined app experience.

UX OVERHAUL

The entire UX/UI to access the augmented reality annotation tools needed to be overhauled. The UX for each tool was improved and an additional tool was added.

Some existing and crucial features like Freeze Mode were redesigned and turned into feature suites which enhanced the user experience and usability of the new app but was a massive overhaul of the back-end system as well.

WHEN TWO BECOME ONE

The main goal of the new Worklink app was to combine two previously separate apps. To achieve this I created the UI and UX for this adjustment and ensured all features worked seamlessly together. With the combination of the apps, users could place augmented reality models, tutorials, and annotations into an ongoing phone call or vice versa.
